Volunteering
Becoming a Trustee/Volunteer for Stockport Neighbourhood Watch
Stockport Neighbourhood Watch Association depends on volunteers/ and trustee's to undertake the tasks involved in maintaining the functioning of the Association and updating the website and social media so that Stockport Coordinators and residents are kept informed about recent incidents and activities and have the latest updates on crime prevention and community matters.
We are always looking for more people to join our team. We welcome anybody interested in helping us to build a stronger, safer, and more connected community.
You don’t have to currently be a coordinator or member of a neighborhood watch scheme. There are various areas where we could do with more assistance.
We are happy to talk to anyone who would like to get involved and feels they might have something to offer.
For most roles we need people to have familiarity with using basic Office applications, and in some cases to be able to update the website or social media sites.
Some areas only need Email and what’s App skills but would benefit from other areas of knowledge.
We need to expand our current team so that the work involved in running the Association can be spread over more people and we are less dependent on individuals. We would like to have more than one person to cover each area if we can.
Please help us to help the Stockport community.
Current Requirements
We would particularly like to find someone to act as Secretary for SNWA. This is an Executive role that involves arranging meetings, taking notes, and circulating minutes.
As well as generally assisting the other members of the group in the functioning of the Association. We would very much like to talk to anyone who feels they could take on this position and discuss what is involved.
Other areas where we would welcome assistance are:
- Membership, ensuring our records are complete and up-to-date
- Coordinator Support, helping new schemes to get set up and registered on the website as well as answering general questions.
- Public Relations, using the media/advertising to raise the awareness of SNWA in Stockport
- Social Media, keeping the information on our Twitter, Facebook and What’s App accounts relevant and up to date.
- Sponsorship, identifying local businesses/organizations that would be interested in sponsoring SNW and/or advertising on the website
- Funding, identifying possible sources of grants or other funding and working on applications.
- Liaison, maintaining awareness of any relevant activity by local public or private bodies such as SMBC, local MPs and political parties, community organizations, and social groups where the Association could contribute or benefit from involvement.
If you have any relevant experience in these areas, we would love to talk to you.
