Reporting crime
CCTV cameras were discussed and I will find out which ones are not working and see if they can be replaced. First need to find out who is responsible for each camera and how they are monitored.
Reporting crimes: Some say it's not worth it - especially about shoplifting but without these logged incidents, the police have little evidence to persuade money to be invested into more police resources. Shops are familiar with the regulars but need witnesses. Sainsbury's may not acknowledge a reported theft but it is being recorded to GMP. Some businesses put up photos of those banned from their premises. Illegal E-bikes are a problem throughout Stockport.
If you witness an incident happening live and feel threatened by a motor, bike or person, you can ring 999, otherwise submit it online (101 not the best responders). You can report dangerous driving incidents through the online portal.
Your local councillor can take a note and pass on to GMP. Guidance on how to report a crime can be found within the posts on this FB group.
Inspector Jacqueline Prest came across as committed to her job and has a history of working in the community. She was supportive of Neighbourhood Watch and will be keeping in touch. It was good to put faces to names - especially Luke our neighbourhood PC and Aziz our PCSO. There was a sense that the police were doing the best they could with the resources they have. Anything the public can do to help will benefit all. See it - report it. If you don't get a reply or a satisfactory one, bring it up at our next meeting.
DATE OF NEXT MEETING WILL BE ADVERTISED
L:R Insp Prest, Paul Stockport Homes, PC Weakley, Sgt Walton, PC Brown, PCSO Aziz.
